A break at the museum
Categories : Exhibitions and Museums, published on : 11/1/23
Of course, Paris is home to many must-see museums, such as the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay, Musée de Cluny and Musée de l'Homme. But there are also some lesser-known, less popular museums that offer a fascinating break from the main tourist circuits. If you're looking for a break from the bad weather, just a stone's throw from Hôtel Les Plumes, here are a few addresses to keep in mind...
Romantic Paris
Less than ten minutes' walk from Hôtel Les Plumes, two institutions plunge you into the creative and inspiring Paris of the 19th century. The first invites you to meet the symbolist painter Gustave Moreau. Housed in the very place where he lived, it offers an insight into both the man and his work. In the same area, the Musée de la Vie Romantique breathes new life into the Nouvelle-Athènes district that inspired so many 19th-century artists. Delacroix, Chopin, Litz and Dickens, to name but a few, passed through the area and left their mark. Relive a unique page in French intellectual and artistic life.
A museum like no other
Just a ten-minute walk from the Hôtel Les Plumes, the PHONO Muséum is an astonishing place. The brainchild of an association, it brings together instruments and archives of recorded sound, retracing almost 170 years of sound history. The museum is only open to the public two days a week (Fridays and Sundays). However, our team recommends that you book a guided tour, which will enable you to hear some real monuments to history and better understand all the advances in these technologies.
In the dead of winter, treat yourself to a museum getaway, just a few steps from Hôtel Les Plumes. Unusual and moving, these institutions bear witness not only to Paris's rich history, but also to the current dynamism of culture in all its forms.
