Contemporary art Paris 2013 will be at the forefront of the art world’s attention once again this year when the city hosts the fortieth edition of a prestigious event. The FIAC International Contemporary Art Fair takes place from Thursday October 24th until Sunday October 27th at the Grand Palais exhibition hall and museum complex. Paris is something of a magnet for the creative arts and FIAC is one of the contemporary art world’s major events. At Les Plumes Hotel we are excited by such creative endeavours and highly recommend this superb show.

Contemporary art Paris 2013 presents a world event

Each Autumn the Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain (major showcase for artistic creation) sets a high standard for contemporary art shows across the globe. Partnered with the city of Paris, it commands great depth, reach and prestige. Every year the event brings together artists, galleries, curators, dealers, the design sector, enthusiasts and collectors from around the world. Young, emerging artists are discovered and leading veterans of the scene present their latest creations. Around 80,000 visitors are expected to attend to enjoy the exhibitions, displays, performances and stalls of around 184 galleries from 25 countries. Around 35 galleries are either participating for the first time or returning after a number of years.

This year’s event will include the latest works by such luminaries as Antoine Aguilar, Omar Ba, Blair Thurman, Shila Khatami and Claire Fontaine. Much of the work on display is, of course, available for purchase.

The heart of the event takes place in the exhibition space at the Grand Palais, not far from the Champs Elysees. Begun in 1897, this Beaux-Arts architectural masterpiece is well worth seeing on its own merits alone. Although this is the main venue, the fair extends to a number of other venues throughout the city, spread by happenings such as the Parisian Galleries Night Out. Larger art installations and sculptures will be displayed in the Tuileries Gardens and the Botanical Gardens, and even along the banks of the Seine.
