It’s one of the events that dictates the pace of the international art scene. The FIAC International Contemporary Art Fair takes place from Thursday 23rd to Sunday 26th October in the Grand Palais. Acclaimed to be even better than the London Frieze Fair, FIAC is a trendsetting show that draws together everyone who is anyone in modern and contemporary art. More than a fair; it’s a true experience you should not miss.
FIAC; A major gappening in the Art World
The Foire Internationale d’Art Contemporain has been in existence since 1974 and over four decades has garnered an enviable reputation on the international art scene. The world’s top galleries exhibit here, presenting both well established artists and the rising stars who will become highly collectible tomorrow. A much anticipated feature will be, as ever, the presentation of the Marcel Duchamp Prize. The event now takes place beneath the huge glass and iron roof of the Grand Palais; a magnificent space that lends a particular ambience to the proceedings.
Some 200 exhibitors from a plethora of nations will be present, including particularly hot galleries such as UBU, White Cube and Continua. What is more, the main event spawns a host of outdoor displays and installations across the city. Large scale works can be viewed in the Tuileries Garden and the Jardin des Plantes, among other places. From paintings to sculpture and from furniture to video and audio works, this is your opportunity to keep abreast of what’s happening on the cutting edge of contemporary art and perhaps catch the wave of the future.
