The magic of Christmas and the holiday season are you’re chance to enjoy many great Parisian events; shows, exhibitions, circuses and parties. To end 2016, the hotel Les Plumes solicited the help of Santa Claus to bring you a handy guide to all those don’t miss events and outings.
Restaurants and cabarets for Christmas and New Year
The gourmets among you can give their taste buds a thrill by booking a refined Christmas Eve dinner at the Dali, a Meurice restaurant with fabulous décor by Philippe Starck on rue de Rivoli. You will enjoy dining from a fine menu and can end your meal with a Christmas log that is a tribute to Salvador Dali.
Les Plumes also recommends Loiseau Rive Droite (8th) or Rive Gauche (7th), which both offer unique menus featuring dishes concocted with the finest products and exceptional wine lists. Less expensive and certainly more festive, a New Year's Eve dinner show in the 17th is sure to go down well. Alternatively, try one of the classic Parisian cabarets at venerable institutions like Paradis Latin, Moulin Rouge, Lido or Cesar Palace.
You’ll be spoiled for choice with the festive shows as the biggest theatres put one their most glittering events to end the year in style. The Zenith Paris la Villette presents Disney on Ice "100 years of the dream" from 7th to 18th December relives a century of Disney magic. Or, try the spectacular Cirque du Soleil’s "Varekai" show which is in the capital for 5 performances at the Accorhotels Arena.
Paris – the City of Light more than ever
You can’t miss the free shows; dazzling illuminations that sparkle in all the most beautiful parts of Paris. From Champs-Elysées to Bercy Village, passing by Avenue Montaigne or Faubourg Saint-Honoré, follow a glittering path that promises outstanding views. You’ll also be enchanted by the dazzling windows of the city’s major stores such as Printemps, BHV Marais, Galeries Lafayette and Bon Marché.
The essential animations of Christmas
A trip to Paris is also your chance to discover the Grande Roue Place de la Concorde, an iconic attraction that’s an essential part of the end-of-year celebrations. Don’t pass up the opportunity to enjoy the Parisian illuminations from your perch 70 metres above the city.
Finally, it’s time to do some shopping. Cover up well and warm yourself with a glass of mulled wine before heading straight for the wooden chalets of the Christmas markets.
